Childersburg City Council meeting – Oct. 20, 2020

CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – The Childersburg City Council met on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, at 6:00 p.m. for their regular meeting with the following agenda of items for action:

The Council approved Resolution 2020-28, which amends Resolution 2020-08 with a change order to the Rainwater House Project in the amount of #3,164 for sidewalk removal and curb installation. Approval was also given to Resolution 2020-29, which gives approval for the Mayor to execute a corrective deed for vacation of an alley off of Highway 280 behind the former C.S.A. building per Resolution 2004-07 to James Lockhart, Jr. and Barbara Jean Lucas.

The Council approved a pair of changes at the Childersburg Fire Department. Bud Sharpe was promoted to Captain at a rate of $16.75 per hour. Isaac Holmes was hired as a full-time permanent firefighter/paramedic at a rate of $15.49 per hour.

Approval was also given for the Childersburg Police Department to promote Officer Jeremy Brooks to Sergeant at a rate of $14.75 per hour.

The Council approved reclassification of James Woods with the Street & Sanitation Department to full-time permanent now that he has completed his six-month probationary period.

Approval was given to pay invoices in the amount of $186,373.06.

The organizational meeting, including swearing-in ceremonies, will be held on November 2, 2020, at 4:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Life Center.

The next regular meeting will be held on November 3, 2020 at 6:00 p.m.
