Childersburg City Council meeting – March 16, 2021

CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – The Childersburg City Council met on Monday, March 16, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. with the following agenda of items for action:


The Council voted to approve Resolution 2021-06, which gives approval to convey 5-acres of Industrial Park property to Ponder Plumbing LLC for $10,000, and approve Mayor Ken Wesson to execute documents relating to that agreement as Chairman of the LRA.

Approval was given to Resolution 2021-07, which authorizes Utility Engineering LLC to make a State Revolving Fund loan application with ADEM for storm drain improvements for Grove Park and Rose Drive at a cost to prepare of $4,000.

The Council voted to approve Resolution 2021-08, which authorizes the Mayor to execute all required documents for the previously approved SRF storm drain improvement loan application.

Approval was given to Resolution 2021-09, which authorizes the Mayor to seek USDA grant funds for the purpose of improvements to City Properties, commonly referred to as the Limbaugh Hardware building.

The Council approved Resolution 2021-10 to authorize Frazier and Lanier Incorporated as Underwriter to rate and sell Series 2021 Warrants upon Mayor and Council direction.

Approval was also given to Resolution 2021-11, authorizing the Childersburg Police Department to impose a Twenty-five dollar fee on impounded vehicles.

The Council gave pre-approval to a trio of schematic drawings from Difference Architecture’s Ryan Coleman for future proposed projects as follows: Council Chamber/Municipal Court facility (not to exceed $4,800), Police Department facility (not to exceed $4,800), and for approval to submit an application for a USDA grant for improvements to City properties (not to exceed $2,240).

Approval was also given to replace flooring at cost in the Fire Department’s Captain’s office due to water damage.

The Council approved payment of invoices in the amount of $300,821.44.

The next regular meeting of the Council will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6, 2021.
