CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – The Childersburg City Council met on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. with the following agenda of items for action:
After the required public hearing, the Council voted to approve an amendment to Zoning Ordinance 1022 to include R-5 High Density Zoning District for future developments.
Also approved was Resolution 2022-07, which approved Change Order #16 for the Community Center Project for installation of conduit for surveillance and communication systems at a total cost of $1,499.26.
The Council also approved Resolution 2022-08, which allows Civil Contractors, LLC to perform emergency repair and installation of a storm drain to Cambridge Avenue, in the amount of $16,700 paid from Fund 75 American Rescue.
Also approved was to designate officials to serve as Voting Delegates for the upcoming May Alabama League of Municipalities Convention. Mayor Ken Wesson will serve as Voting Delegate, with Council Member Wesley Allen as the 1st Alternate and Council Member Tommy Ivey as the 2nd Alternate.
The Council gave approval for Rachel Carlson and Aimee Burnette to attend a regional seminar for six Continuing Legal Education session for the Municipal Court on April 7-8 in Birmingham. Also approved was for Carlson to attend the AMCCMA Annual Conference at Orange Beach.
Three items were addressed for the Fire Department. Hoyt Stoffregen was classified as full-time on a permanent basis. Major Abernathy was approved as a firefighter/paramedic at a rate of pay of $16.20 per hour. Brett Lunsford was approved to attend Firefighter Recruit School at the Mountain Brook Fire Department on April 4 – June 10, 2022. Lunsford will be paid for official duty during the training period and will be classified under the guidelines of Alabama Code 36-21-7.
Simmons Home Improvement was approved to perform additional work at the BJ Meeks Baseball Complex after several issues were discovered during previous work. A power roof exhaust and vent will be installed at the Justice Field concession stand at a cost of $625. Roof repairs will be made to the coach’s office and dugout area at a cost of $670.
Approval was given for payment of invoices in the amount of $105,587.89.
The next regular meeting of the Council will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, 2022.
