CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – The Childersburg City Council met on Monday, January 5, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. with the following agenda of items for action:
The Council voted to approve Resolution 2021-1 which adopts the Fiscal Year 2021 Operating Budget. The $4,992,827 spending plan has a $31,473 surplus. One of the key elements of the budget is a 2.5% pay increase for all City employees, with the exception of certain Fire Department and Street Department employers subject to new step adjustments instead.
Also approved was the hiring of part-time, permanent Firefighter/Paramedic Hoyt Stoffregen at a rate of $15.49 per hour.
The Council approved travel & training expenses for Police Chief Rick McClelland to attend continuing education classes in Dothan on January 14-15, including $200 registration, two-night lodging, and per diem.
Mayor Ken Wesson was authorized by the Council to enter into a CLRA agreement with Alabama Childhood Food Solutions for the purchase of 20-acres of property in the industrial park.
Payment was approved for invoices in the amount of $94,079.72.
The next regular meeting of the Council will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 19, 2021. Prior to that meeting, there will be a 5:00 p.m. public hearing on a recommendation from the Planning Commission to rezone several parcels of property across 3rd Street from City Hall, all currently used for business purposes, from Residential to Business zoning.
