Childersburg City Council approves special election for Sunday alcohol sales

CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – The latest meeting of the Childersburg City Council opened Tuesday evening with the Council approval of Resolution 2018-04, which calls for a Special Election for Sunday Alcohol Sales on June 26, 2018.

Chamber Ambassador Matt Reed read a Proclamation from the Mayor and Council, concerning the “Bubbles of Love” program, which draws attention to the 7th annual national event on April 25 in support of better familial interaction, especially among families not living together.

Approval was given to continue participation in the annual “Back to School” sales tax holiday, which is scheduled for July 20 – 22, 2018.

The Council approved Wesson Companies LLC for installation of a Safe Zone contract in the amount of $1,062.90. This will establish an area adjacent to Childersburg City Hall, where high-definition cameras will be installed to video-tape exchanges and sales by the public.

Approval was given to the following Street and Sanitation Department pay rate structure for Floyd Jones, who has completed his probationary period and will move from $8.85 an hour to $10 an hour.

The Council approved Alexander Moore and Joseph Mosser to attend the Police Academy beginning April 30, 2018, with a hire date of April 1. They will become permanent employees upon graduation.

Approval was given for payment of invoices in the amount of $173,496.34.

The next regularly scheduled Childersburg City Council meeting will be held on April 3rd , 2018 at 6:00 p.m.
