CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – The Childersburg City Council Tuesday evening with a short agenda of action items.
The Council gave approval for the Childersburg Historic Preservation Commission to file a pre-application for a grant through ADECA for funding of continuing improvements of the Liberty Trail Project at the Kymulga Grist Mill. The group has secured necessary local match funding from a private donation.
Discussion during the Town Hall portion of the meeting centered around the railroad bridge project on U.S. Hwy 280. Mayor Ken Wesson reported ALDOT expects to allow bids near the first of February with the 24-month project expected to begin in May. It was noted that traffic changes along Hwy 280 will be minimal during the bulk of the early portions of the construction project with most of the work taking place on the south side of the highway.
Approval was also given to pay invoices in the amount of $52,303.38.
