CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – Childersburg Water Works, Sewer & Gas Board celebrates Natural Gas Public Awareness Month by inviting the public to its annual Public Awareness Day at its office today, Wednesday, October 5.
The fun-filled event educated people about the use of natural gas and its dangers. Hot dogs, drinks, and gift bags were free to the public.
“We have done this event for ten years all for our customers to understand what to do incase of a natural gas emergency,” said Michael Maddox, general manager of Childersburg Water Works, Sewer & Gas Board.
People who attended had the chance to enter in a drawing for three chances to receive $100 in cash. The drawing will take place at the end of October. Anyone who stops by its office during October can enter the drawing when coming to pay bills or to speak to a representative. When entering you will be asked a series of questions regarding understanding your gas pipelines and how to handle gas leaks.
“The even went very well. We had quite a few people come out today that are supportive of our event,” said Travis Mizzell, operator.
The event took place between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at the Childersburg Water Works, Sewer & Gas building, 117 6th Ave. SW, Childersburg, AL 35044.
