SYLACAUGA, Ala. – From Tuesday, April 2, until Saturday, April 13, marble sculptors from all over the country and world were stationed at Central Park in Sylacauga to participate in one of the city’s finest traditions.

In 2009, Sylacauga entered into a sister city agreement with Pietrasanta, Italy, a small town located off the Tuscany coast. Pietrasanta’s culture is heavily influenced by both marble and the arts.

Since then, Sylacauga’s Magic of Marble Festival has taken place, and it has grown in support and attendance every year.

The Magic of Marble Festival is sponsored by the Alabama State Council on the Arts and the Sylacauga Arts Council.

At this April’s edition — Marble Fest 2024 — Desirée Pucci, of Pietrasanta, was the featured sculptor.

On the first Friday of the festival, patrons of Food Truck Friday could also peruse the ongoing sculpting.
