DELTA, Ala. – Alabama’s oldest state park and home to the state’s highest point, at more than 2,000 feet, Cheaha State Park will open its new lodge this week. The lodge features three guest towers and 32 rooms.

The $28 million lodge, located atop a mountain, presented unexpected challenges during construction, including large amounts of rock that had to be removed. Designed with sustainability in mind, the lodge incorporates renewable materials such as mass timber.

The facility will include a restaurant with a concept that differs significantly from previous models. All 32 guest rooms will offer bluff-side views, and the lodge will feature a rooftop bar and conference area.

The modern facility complements the park’s historic setting. The property was once owned by White-Stick Creek Indian Chief Solocta, who was granted the land for his assistance to Gen. Andrew Jackson.

Cheaha State Park attracts between 200,000 and 300,000 visitors annually and offers cabins, improved RV camping, and primitive camping. The new luxury lodge adds another lodging option to the park’s amenities.

Reservations for the new lodge will open online this week.
