ALEXANDER CITY, Ala. – Central Alabama Community College (CACC) recently noted the remarkable achievements of its Spring 2024 sports teams.
This season, CACC’s student-athletes displayed exceptional talent and sportsmanship, achieving notable successes in their respective sports.
The softball team concluded the season with a 41-19 overall record and a stellar 28-4 record in conference play, securing the ACCC Conference regular season championship. Along with that accomplishment, Head Coach Greg Shivers was named ACCC Coach of the Year.
The team also achieved an impressive collective GPA of 3.54. Jenna Castleberry was named ACCC Pitcher of the Year and given First Team All ACCC honors, alongside four teammates. They made a strong appearance at the NJCAA World Series.
“Our softball team has exemplified excellence both on and off the field,” said President Jeff Lynn.
The golf team finished fifth in the NJCAA Tournament, winning both the District and ACCC Conference Championships.
Coach Daniel Allen was named Coach of the Year for both the conference and district. Notable individual achievements include James Baker and Gunnar Green finishing tied for 13th nationally, with Baker earning 1st Team Ping All-America and All-District honors.
The baseball team ended their conference play with a 21-11 record, finishing as State Runner-Ups. The team maintained a 3.05 GPA, with 26 players on the Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
Macks Bishop was recognized as ACCC Relief Pitcher of the Year, while numerous Trojans will advance to four-year institutions.
“Our [teams] has achieved tremendous success this season,” said President Jeff Lynn. “Their dedication and talent are evident, and we are proud of their accomplishments and the opportunities they have earned to continue their academic and athletic careers.”
Athletic Director Steve Lewis added, “This has been an amazing season for all our teams. Our student-athletes and coaches’ hard work and commitment have brought significant recognition to CACC. Their successes on the field and in the classroom reflect the values and spirit of our college.”
