ALEXANDER CITY, Ala. – Central Alabama Community College students will have expanded opportunities to transfer to Jacksonville State University under a Memorandum of Understanding between the two institutions.
The agreement strengthens the partnership between the two schools by focusing on affordable pathways to a four-year degree, including the transfer of academic credits and simplified enrollment processes.
A key benefit for Central Alabama Community College students is continued access to Jacksonville State University’s Transfer Merit Based Scholarships. Beginning in fall 2025, JSU has awarded the Presidential Transfer Leadership Scholarship to one transfer student from each Alabama Community College System partner, including CACC.
The scholarship covers full tuition and is renewable for one additional year, for up to four semesters total. It covers tuition only and replaces any previously awarded merit scholarships. Central Alabama Community College faculty and staff select the scholarship recipient.
“We are excited about this collaboration. It is designed first and foremost with our students in mind,” CACC President Jeff Lynn said. “It expands financial support and creates clearer routes for CACC students who want to continue their education at Jacksonville State University.”
Leaders from the two institutions met on Tuesday, Sept. 29 to strengthen collaboration and improve transfer pathways. Discussions focused on aligning efforts to support a transition and promote student success.
“This partnership is especially meaningful to me because Central Alabama is where I started my college journey,” Jacksonville State University President Don C. Killingsworth Jr. said.
He said the agreement provides a foundation for the institutions to identify new opportunities and help students continue their education and achieve their goals.
