ALEXANDER CITY, Ala. – Central Alabama Community College recognized faculty members across its four campuses during the 2025 Teaching Excellence Awards, celebrating educators for their dedication, innovation, and impact on students.
“This year’s honorees represent the very best of CACC,” said President Jeff Lynn. “Their passion for teaching, innovation in the classroom, and commitment to our students’ success make a lasting difference. I am deeply proud of the example they set for our entire college community.”
Biology instructor Daniel Faucett received the Outstanding New Faculty Award. Honors for Excellence in Online Instruction went to English teacher Brittany Beatty and Medical Assistant Technology instructor Angela Cox.
The Innovative Teaching Practices Award was presented to Chemistry teacher Jeremy Carr and Industrial Electronics instructor Jacob Wills. English teacher Maribeth Farr and Welding instructor Ben Bailey earned the Student Impact Award, while Computer Information Systems teacher Slade Young and Biology instructor Amy Waites received the Above and Beyond Award.
Farr and Wills also stood out in professional development, earning the Lifelong Learner Award for completing 74.5 and 119.5 hours, respectively. Farr was additionally named TLI Champion for her involvement in the Teaching and Learning Institute.
Nine faculty members received the Behind-the-Scenes Hero Award, including History teachers Justin Williams and James Hurst, Speech instructor Katie Blackerby, and others across multiple disciplines.
Other awards included the Road Warrior Award to Blackerby, the Game Changer Award to Library Services’ Leslie Rewis, and certificates recognizing faculty projects such as Carr’s International Space Station research and Farr’s work with peer tutoring and the Trojan Scholars program.
Faculty members were also honored for sponsoring student clubs and organizations ranging from Phi Theta Kappa to the Student Government Association.
Dean of Academics Brandy Mitchell praised the recipients, saying the awards reflect their “tireless dedication.” Michael Barnette, Dean of Workforce and Economic Development Programs, added that Central Alabama Community College faculty provide students with “the tools to succeed long after they leave our classrooms.”
