For example, the churches and other organizations that have always helped supply the food did not receive letters with instructions this year, so we are trying to get the word out by telephone, Facebook, e-mail, and other media. If you are a part of one of Care House’s sponsoring organizations they still need your help as always. If you have never helped before, this would be a good year to become a part of the Care House program either as individuals or as groups.Food will be collected between Tuesday, 11-10 and Thursday, 11-19. Monday, 11-23 is the last day food can be received and still be included in food Christmas packages. As always, Care House needs all types of beans and peas (canned and dried), Jiffy cornbread mix, soup, chicken broth, canned fruit, canned sweet potatoes, Little Debbie Christmas Cakes, cranberry sauce, and other canned goods. If you want to help, Care House is open to receive food from 9:00 am-Noon on Monday – Thursday, except for Veteran’s Day. If you want to contribute but cannot deliver on the above time schedule, please call the Care House Director, Coach Earl Lewis, at 256-249-8289, or 256-404-0349 and arrangements can be made to meet you at another time. The food distribution will be spread out over a 2 1/2 week period this year rather than on one big day. The distribution schedule will be announced within the next few days. It will begin on Monday, 11/30, or Tuesday, 12/1.
