ROCKFORD, Ala. – On Thursday, Feb. 23, the discovery of a bullet at Central High School of Coosa County caused a soft lockdown of the school.
The school’s administration alerted the Coosa County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) yesterday that personnel had found an item rather suspicious on the school’s grounds.
The object of interest, a .22 caliber bullet, was located in the school’s lunchroom.
One CCSO responders arrived, they placed the school under a soft lockdown. A soft lockdown allows for students to still go throughout the premises under elevated supervision and limited movement.
Sylacauga’s K9 unit assisted with a ground check to see if any other strange paraphernalia could be found, but the only thing found causing wariness on the CCSO and school staff’s behalf was the bullet.
A further investigation into why the bullet turned up at the school will take place.
