SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Building and Construction Trade Group recently made a generous donation to the Sylacauga Alliance for Family Enhancement (SAFE) to strengthen and support all families in the community.
Sammy Dobson, Chairman of the Building and Construction Trade Group, represented the non-profit organization as it gifted the donation to Margaret Morton, the Executive Director of SAFE.
“SAFE is grateful for the support of organizations like the Building and Construction Trade Group who recognize individuals and families are hurting and need additional support from time to time,” said Morton. “SAFE’s vision is to achieve a sustained culture of health, wellness, and economic stability for the children and families of Talladega County, the region, and our state. That cannot be done unless we all work together.”
The Building and Construction Trade Group (BCTG) was formed in 1967 to provide community services. The BCTG constructed and operated a 10-story apartment building in Five Points South that furnished affordable housing to senior citizens for over 35 years.
The BCTG got out of the apartment business in 2005 and has since redirected their community services in order to diversify their impact.
The group has contributed over $290,000 to local charities and community groups over the last 14 years including volunteer fire departments, youth programs, handicapped athletes and athletics, educational groups, libraries, human societies, and on-profit groups in the seven county area surrounding Birmingham.
