SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Four of five city council seats in the city of Sylacauga were won outright in August’s municipal election. Tonight, Nate Brewer took the final seat.
Brewer defeated challenger DeCorey Hale in the District 3 runoff, after the two edged out incumbent Donnie Blackmon six weeks ago.
Brewer received 218 votes to Hale’s 132. Voter turnout was nearly identical compared to six weeks ago when 366 total votes were cast.
Brewer provided a written statement via text message to SylacaugaNews.com after winning:
“I want to Thank God first with out him this isn’t possible my family thats been right beside me through the whole election. To my supporters I couldn’t have made it without the prayers and well wishes. I want to Especially thank the VOTERS of District 3 because they have trusted me to represent them for 4 years. I would like to accomplish more Public Safety, finding more jobs to bring people into Sylacauga, Finding ways to bring a Dog park and a Storm Shelter thats needed At the end of the day I am blessed and very excited to be able to actually get to live a dream. And I thank this Community for helping raise me into who i am today.. ”

- District 1 – Ashton Fowler – 2nd term
- District 2 – Tiffany Nix – 2nd term
- District 3 – Nate Brewer – 1st term
- District 4 – Lee Perryman – 2nd term
- District 5 – Laura Heath – 1st term
