SYLACAUGA, Ala. – A suspect is in custody after shots were fired at Sylacauga’s Coosa Pines Federal Credit Union (CPFCU) branch.
Sylacauga Police Chief Kelley Johnson said an attempted robbery led to shots being fired inside the credit union located on James Payton Blvd. around noon.
According to Johnson, the suspect in custody is a male.
The unnamed suspect fled the scene on foot into the woods behind CPFCU, but was quickly captured by officers who were in the vicinity.
“He ran, but officers in the area located him and got him in custody,” Johnson explained.
No one was injured in the incident
“The Sylacauga location of Coosa Pines Federal Credit Union was robbed,” said Don Carden. Carden is the CEO of CPFCU. “Shots were fired, but no one was injured.”
Johnson said other businesses in the area were also on lock down, but the area is now safe as no one else is believed to be involved.
