UPDATE: Body found in Coosa County creek identified

COOSA COUNTY, Ala. — An investigation is underway after a body was found in a Coosa County creek.

The body has been identified as 34-year-old Jason Alexander Hayes from Sylacauga, according to Coosa County Coroner Jack Brewer.

The Coosa County Sheriff’s Office sent a news release, stating a caller saw what appeared to be a body, floating face down in a creek in the Hidden Valley community near Paint Creek.

The call was made to the CCSO around 6:18 Sunday night.

The CCSO says Gap of the Mountain Rescue Squad is working to retrieve the body at this time.

Members from the Coosa County Sheriff’s Office, Chilton County Sheriff’s Office, Alabama Law Enforcement Marine Patrol, Coosa County Coroner, Weogufka, Stewartville, and Marble Valley Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the scene.
