BRENHAM, Texas – Blue Bell Creameries has been honored with the 2025 International Dairy Foods Association Food Safety Leadership Award, recognizing its outstanding commitment to food safety in the dairy industry. The award was presented during the Association’s Dairy Forum.

Founded in 1907 as the Brenham Creamery Company, Blue Bell has been a premier ice cream and frozen dessert manufacturer for 118 years.

In 1930, the company changed its name to Blue Bell Creameries, and in 1996, opened a manufacturing location in Sylacauga.

Over the past decade, the company has implemented rigorous food safety protocols, surpassing regulatory and industry standards.

“IDFA is pleased to present the 2025 Food Safety Leadership Award to Blue Bell Creameries and to recognize the company’s strong commitment to embracing a ‘culture of food safety’ across the entire business, in all employees, in all aspects of its work,” said Roberta Wagner, the Association’s Senior Vice President for Regulatory and Scientific Affairs.

Blue Bell has invested significantly in food safety training, equipment upgrades, and quality assurance programs.

Since 2021, all three of its main production facilities have been certified, achieving the highest possible scores for two consecutive years. The company has also introduced new sanitary-design equipment, upgraded facilities, implemented advanced software solutions, and established a robust ingredient screening program.

“This award is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of an entire team that shares a common goal,” said Blue Bell President Jimmy Lawhorn. “Together, Blue Bell has built and embraced a culture over the years where food safety is not just a priority, but a fundamental value that shapes everything we do.”
