SYLACAUGA, Ala. – One thing is for sure, there will be no shortage of things to do, all full of fall, family fun! It gets started Friday evening, Oct. 11, and doesn’t stop until well after dark on Sunday, Oct. 13.
Things get started Friday afternoon, when the Talladega Springs Senior Center hosts a Chili/Soup Fundraiser from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
In Sylacauga’s Central Park, there’s the last Food Truck Friday of the season, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Over in Childersburg’s BJ Meeks Sports Complex, there’ll be a free concert with three acts from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
That event is the prequel to Saturday’s “Ride to the Rescue” from the Childersburg Rescue Squad which will bring bike riders from all over the southeast to the Childersburg area, and it’ll provide plenty of fun with a Classic Car, Truck & Bike show from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., along with some of the south’s best BBQ and all the fixings.
Now for the rest of the Saturday line-up – from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., you can pick between, or split time, enjoying two of the biggest annual events around.
Actually, we’d better make that three, because this year at the old John Cox Stadium, CoosaFest 484 combines with Pumpkin Fest for the “biggest and best yet” for either annual event.
In Oak Grove, there’s the Fall Family Festival with live music, loads of food, all sorts of arts, crafts, and other vendors, and the biggest kids zone around. They’ll even offer rides from the parking area to the festival.
Up at Lincoln’s Dovetail Landing, The “Rockin’ for Recovery” Festival honors Veterans while providing lots of family fun, including a fireworks show.
Neighboring Shelby County has a pair of events just a short ride away. The Shelby Iron Works Fall Fest runs from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on County Rd. 42 in Shelby. Columbiana hosts “Discover Shelby Fest, Wine, Food, and Music” from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
To the north in Calhoun County, the Anniston Museums & Gardens will host “Fall Fest” from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
On Sunday night, you can enjoy the “Yearly Witches & Warlock Murder Mystery” at 112 N Broadway Ave. in Sylacauga, starting at 7:00 p.m.
Okay, let’s add it all up.
