SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga Parks and Recreation is holding a Basketball Shoot-out next Friday, March 31, at the J. Craig Smith Community Center that will include a skills competition and a slam dunk contest.
The festivities will start at 5:30 p.m. in the rec’s gymnasium with youth ages 8-15 competing in a pass, dribble, and shoot skills challenge.
The skills challenge will be split up into three age groups: 8-10, 11-12, and 13-15. Only 10 participant slots are available per group, and some spots have already been filled.
The registration fee for each child participating is $10, and the top two finishers in each group will receive a prize.

After the timed skills event is done, the slam dunk contest will take flight. Those 16 or older are eligible to compete.
Sign-up and a fee payment of $10 for the dunk contest will take place at the door. The winner, which will be decided by a panel of guest judges, will win the combined amount of the entry fees paid.
Those wishing to spectate the Basketball Shoot-out will have to pay a $1 admission fee.
