SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Sylacauga Parks and Recreation will open registration on Wednesday, Oct. 1 for its 2026 youth basketball season, which will run through Nov. 30.
Boys and girls ages five through twelve are eligible to participate in the Alabama Recreation and Parks Association league.
Registration costs $75 for the 6U division and $85 for 8U through 12U. Parents may register online at Sylacauga.Recdesk.com, by phone at (256) 249-8561, or in person at the J. Craig Smith Community Center.
The age control date is Sept. 1, 2025, meaning a child’s age on that date determines their playing group. Children must be 5 years old by then to join this season.
Tryouts are scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 2 at the J. Craig Smith Community Center gymnasium. The 8U division begins at 5:00 p.m., followed by 10U at 6:00 p.m. and 12U at 6:45 p.m. The 6U division will not hold tryouts.
Games begin Tuesday, Jan. 6 and will run through early February, with All-Star play for 8U–12U teams afterward. Volunteer coaches are also needed.
