SYLACAUGA, Ala. – B.B. Comer’s Brandon Morgan sealed his future route in baseball, signing a scholarship with Erskine College during a ceremony on Wednesday afternoon, April 24, surrounded by teammates, coaches, friends, and family.

The signing took place in B.B. Comer High School’s auditorium at 2:30 p.m.

Morgan is a versatile player on the diamond known for his abilities as a right-handed pitcher and third baseman.

“It means a lot,” Morgan said of the support at his signing ceremony. “Just growing up, playing with friends, and being able to just finish out high school with the people I love and that I’ve grown up with, it means a lot.”

His path to Erskine College, a Division II institution located in Due West, South Carolina that competes in the Conference Carolinas, began with recruitment efforts during his sophomore year.

Despite setbacks due to surgery in his junior year, Morgan’s talent and determination shone through, leading to an offer from Erskine College after attending a camp in January.

What ultimately drew Morgan to Erskine was the coach’s emphasis on family and support.

“[Coach Mark Crocco] makes everything about family,” said Morgan. “He shows that the team is a family, and my mom said it best. If she’s gonna send her child four hours away, that’s who she wants me to be with. Coach just shows that awesome love and that he actually genuinely cares for the players and their success.”

Looking ahead, Morgan wants to make a name for himself at Erskine, aiming to excel both on the field and in his studies. He plans to major in business and pursue a career in sports marketing or graphic design.

As Morgan will soon begin on a new chapter, he leaves a message of teamwork and perseverance for his teammates at B.B. Comer.

“I just need them to realize that If you play as a team, stuff will work. That’s really what I want to leave with them.”
