B.B. Comer Memorial Library Summer Programs begin today

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The B.B. Comer Memorial Library wants you to plan your summer now to avoid the “summer slide.” Summer Reading registration began in May, and is still open today.

There are many programs to choose from for children of all ages going on throughout the week. The Summer Reading Club is for ages 3+ and goes through July 27. Your child has the option of setting a goal of five chapter books or 10 picture books.

There is a program every Monday from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. These programs are appropriate for children ages 3-years-ols and up. Entertainment includes “The Slightly Off Beat Musical Magic Show” starring Roosevelt Rat and Tommy Johns, “Reading Rocks” featuring Arthur Atsma Magic, and more.

Blue Bell’s Building Block Stories is the program for Tuesdays. It will be held from 10:00 – 10:30 a.m. The programs on Tuesday are appropriate for children 3 to 6-years-old and will include “Barnyard Hullabaloo,” “Meet the Orchestra,” “Read to the Beat,” and more.

Another program will be held on Wednesdays for ages 3 and up. They will begin at 10:00 a.m. and end at 11:00 a.m. These programs include entertainment from Miss Kit the Bubble Artist, Becky Yarbrough Tucker and her Live Reptiles, Mark Seymour the Musician, and more.

Also on Wednesdays will be the Teen Advisory Council. This is for teenagers 12 – 18 years old, and will begin at 1:00 p.m. This program will begin with Pound with Mandy Reams and end with Lee Bryan Puppets.

All programs begin next week, starting June 11 and will go through July 25. You can sign up for the programs online at the B.B. Comer Memorial Library website, or call the library at (256) 249 – 0961 for more information.
