SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Last week, Gov. Ivey and State Supt. Eric Mackey announced schools will not reopen this year, ending hopes of a semi-normal end to senior year for students across the state looking to take their next steps in life.
B.B. Comer High School has found a unique way to honor its seniors that have had their senior year cut short.
On Twitter, the school is highlighting a senior daily in a ‘Senior Spotlight’
The post tells of seniors’ plans for the future and past accomplishments.
Today’s senior spotlight goes to Breana Johnson! She plans to transfer to JSU after obtaining her associate’s degree at CACC! Help us recognize her by commenting with a memory, sharing this post, or sending well wishes! We are so proud of our future graduates! #Classof2020 pic.twitter.com/kOft7eotSs

In a press release the school said,
“Because of school campus closure due to the Covid-19 outbreak, the school counselor and senior sponsors at B.B. Comer Memorial High School in Sylacauga, Alabama created the Senior Spotlight social media campaign to honor each senior in the class of 2020. Because these students are missing their final moments in high school, it is our wish to give them the “spotlight” that they deserve for their years of hard work. Beginning March 28, the school will release a post on social media honoring one of our upcoming graduates each day before noon. The campaign will run until the end of the school year.”
