SYLACAUGA, Ala. – A Friday night, Aug. 8 shooting in Sylacauga took the life of a local student athelete.
Dmarcus Riggins, age 17, was killed in a shooting incident in the Drew Court neighborhood inside the Sylacauga city limits.
B.B. Comer Memorial High School and others have posted supportive statements for the family, friends, and classmates since the incident, asking for prayers.
“Tiger Nation, please keep our school, students, and athletes in your prayers as they mourn the loss of a classmate, a friend, and a cherished family member.”
One other victim was wounded in the shooting. His name and condition have not been released.
The victim’s mother, Latrice Riggins, announced on Facebook:
“It is with deep sadness to tell everyone my son has passed… Dmarcus Riggins, I love you and you will truly be missed. No one will know the hurt I am in. If you know who did this, please, please let the police know. My son needs justice!”
