SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Early today, B.B. Comer Elementary School began demolition on an older section of the school.
The section of the school removed includes a classroom that has been unoccupied for a long period of time. The removal will not disrupt the normal flow of operations at the school.
Talladega County Schools Superintendent Dr. Suzanne Lacey said the removal will fix a structural issue that has the potential to lead to bigger problems in the future if not handled now.
“This is very important for the growth of our school,” said Principal at B.B. Comer Elementary School Melia Brashear. “This has been a long-time coming because people have not used that side of the building for years.”
According to Lacey, there will be no new renovations or replacements built in the section’s place.
