SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Sylacauga Alliance for Family Enhancement’s (SAFE) Southern Dance and Performing Arts Company (SDPAC) has announced open cast auditions for all roles for the musical production of “The Wizard of Oz” next Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 7-8, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The auditions will be held at the SDPAC studios located at 109 N. Broadway Ave. in Sylacauga.
Anyone ages 9 and up can audition. To sign up for a time slot, visit sdpac.net.
The production will be directed by Patrick McDonald, SDPAC’s musical theatre director. Bethany Peppers will be the music director and Rachel McDonald will be the choreographer for the show.
This beloved tale, in which a Kansas farm girl travels over the rainbow to discover the magical power of home, has been entertaining audiences for more than 80 years.
Tryouts will include the following:
One prepared song with the correlating musical track
One minute monologue (if you are auditioning for a principal role)
Dance audition including choreography taught at the tryout
Cold read from “The Wizard of Oz” script
The performance dates will be Feb. 16-25, 2023.
