SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The Auburn Raptor presentation, hosted by the Sylacauga Parks and Recreation, will take place at the J. Craig Smith Community Center on Tuesday, June 13, at 10:00 a.m.
The presentation was originally set for Central Park, but the threat of inclement weather caused the need for a change in venue.
The free educational program will offer an intimate encounter with live raptors, providing insights into their natural history and crucial ecological roles.
A “raptor” in this context refers to birds of prey. From owls and falcons to hawks, kites, vultures, and eagles, a selection of non-releasable raptor ambassadors will be on display, promising an unmatched experience suitable for all age groups.
The Auburn Raptor Center, a division of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Auburn University, is dedicated to the rehabilitation, education, and conservation of raptors.
By delivering top-tier medical care and promoting public awareness of raptors, the center aims to ignite a passion for raptor ecosystems. Additionally, the facility in Auburn offers hands-on experiences for veterinary and undergraduate students, conducts vital research, and actively participates in raptor conservation efforts.
