SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Sylacauga veterinarian Dr. Chad Baxley reports that the city has experienced a positive case of rabies with a possible second case awaiting lab results.
Baxley adds that five animals are currently in quarantine with the first case.
“With the number of stray animals in this area, please walk your dogs on a leash and keep your cats indoors,” advised Dr. Baxley in a post on social media.
He also recommends checking the Rabies Vaccination status of your pets. If they are not up to date, contact your veterinarian.
“We are reducing our Rabies Vaccination price to $25 until the end of the month,” added Dr. Baxley.
