TALLADEGA, Ala. – First elected to the Alabama House of Representatives 28-years ago in 1998, Rep. Steve Hurst is asking District 35 voters for one final four-year term before stepping away from public service.

Hurst’s time in politics started with an appointment to the Talladega County Commission. He later restarted that political clock by running for a seat in the Alabama legislature. During a recent legislative forum, he explained that his primary focus on legislation has been working quietly behind the scenes to amend existing bills rather than attaching his name as a sponsor of new legislation.

Hurst says he still has a heart for helping people and doesn’t expect that to change after his days in the legislature are done, “That’s who I am, and I’ll keep being of service even beyond my time in public office.”
