SYLACAUGA, Ala. – A second local high school student has earned recognition for her academic achievement and interest in pursuing a career in medicine.
Sylacauga High School freshman Aubrey Kennel has been nominated for the Congress of Future Medical Leaders’ Award of Excellence. The honor recognizes outstanding academic performance, leadership potential, and dedication to serving humanity through medicine.
The announcement follows news last week that Malaya Keaton, a ninth grader at B.B. Comer High School, was chosen as a delegate to the Congress of Future Medical Leaders.
The event, set for June 24-26, 2026, will be held just outside Boston on the University of Massachusetts Lowell campus.
The Congress is an honors-only program for high school students aspiring to become physicians or enter medical research fields.
Its mission is to honor, inspire, and guide the nation’s top young scholars, equipping them with resources and mentorship to help achieve their goals.
