SYLACAUGA, Ala. – An Alpine man has turned himself in after a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Christian Ryan Hickman, 20, is charged with manslaughter in the death of 17-year-old Lindsey Motes of Chelsea. Hickman was processed on a warrant signed by Sylacauga Investigator Sergeant Chris Vinson for manslaughter, and was released on a $15,000 bond that was set by the Talladega County Circuit Clerk’s Office.
A release from the Sylacauga Police Department says Motes and a group of friends were traveling on Billingsley Road in Sylacauga on Dec. 13, 2020 in a 2009 Infinity G37 that belonged to Hickman. The vehicle the teens were traveling in left the roadway and struck a power pole. Motes was ejected from the vehicle. Sylacauga Ambulance Service responded to find Motes deceased at the scene. SPD states it has evidence showing Hickman was speeding, which caused the accident.
The crime of Manslaughter is a Class B Felony. A Class B Felony is punishable by not more than 20 years or less than 2 years in prison.
