CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – First Bank of Alabama President and CEO, J. Chad Jones, opened the financial institution’s latest ground-breaking ceremony by noting the unique shared historical significance, stating, “Childersburg is America’s oldest continually-occupied community, just as First Bank of Alabama is the oldest continuously-operating bank in the state of Alabama. That’s something we are quite proud to combine today.”

In less than a month, the bank will begin the approximate seven month process of creating a brand new, 2,400 square-foot branch as an out-parcel of Childersburg’s Piggy Wiggly Shopping Center, just off US Hwy 280.

“We have selected to continue our relationship with Keeley Construction to lead this project,” explained Jones, “and we are proud to note that they will be using local labor, local construction companies to sub-contract as much of the work as is possible. Because that’s the kind of commitment a community bank has to its host communities.”

The new Childersburg branch will become First Bank of Alabama’s fourteenth branch office,” added Jones.

“This branch opening will mean a physical presence in every major city in Talladega County city – Childersburg, Sylacauga, Talladega, Lincoln, and Munford. That’s our commitment, to serve the 81,000 people of Talladega County.”

“Adding five employees for the new Childersburg branch joins new products and services, new technology, new buildings, and new people that make up First Bank of Alabama. The one constant amongst all the change has been our commitment to serving the needs of our customers and communities. We invite you to join us as we continue to create history while building a better future,” Jones said.

Jones added that this isn’t the only growth project the bank has going on.

“First Bank’s fifth stand-alone ATM location is also under construction in nearby Rockford in Coosa County.”
