Alabama projected to have no shortage in hospital and ICU beds

SYLACAUGA, Ala – The projected peak of Coronavirus is still over a week away. The state has already seen nearly 2,100 cases and 55 reported deaths.

As many early COVID-19 models projected ventilator, hospital bed and ICU bed shortages, that is no longer the case when lookaing at models fro healthdata.org.

The site projects peak resource use on April 18. On that day the numbers are favorable for Alabama hospitals.

The grpah below shows that Alabama will have no deficit on hospital beds. At the COVID-19 resource peak, 2,052 beds will be needed. 5,743 is the number given for all beds available. COVID-19 patients will take up 74 fewer ICU beds than what are available. The site says that 340 ventilators will be needed.

The peak of death in the state is listed as April 22 with 41 deaths that day.
