Alabama Mushroom Festival kicks off tomorrow in Sylacauga

SYLACAUGA, Ala. – The fascinating world of fungi is headed to Sylacauga this weekend as the Alabama Mushroom Society presents the 2022 Alabama Mushroom Festival on Oct. 8-9.

The festivities will begin when the gates open at 9:00 a.m. Saturday at the Lake Howard Boat Dock.

Throughout the day, those attending can check out the Vendor Village which will have plenty of food options, merchants, arts and crafts, and grow blocks for fresh mushrooms.

In total, 12 presentations will be made my select mycologists and renowned mushroom experts that will be sure to tickle your fungal fancy. The list of presenters and speakers includes Alan and Arlene Bessette, Alan Rockefeller, Bill Yule, Jay Justice, and more.

Then, at 8:00 p.m. Saturday night, the black light foray will take place. Bring your own ultraviolet (UV) light to see the ‘shroom spectacle.

Tickets to access all of the happenings at the Alabama Mushroom Festival are $25 per person. Children 12 and under get in free.
