Ivey kicked off her campaign on social media with a video and caption that said, “Alabama is working again, and the best is yet to come. I’m all in for re-election — will you join me?”
The 76-year-old Republican first took office in 2017 after Gov. Robert Bentley resigned amid a sex scandal. Ivey is currently the oldest governor in the United States.

Prior to becoming governor, Ivey served as Alabama’s state treasurer from 2003 to 2011 and lieutenant governor from 2011 to 2017.
Ivey won her first full term in office in 2018 when she defeated Democrat Walt Maddox.
