ALABAMA – Alabama’s Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday will begin at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, July 17, and end at midnight on Sunday, July 19.
During the holiday, many back-to-school purchases will be exempt from state sales taxes, as well as county and municipal sales taxes in participating jurisdictions.
Eligible items include:
Clothing – Items priced at $156 or less per article, including shirts, pants, dresses, shoes, jackets, raincoats, school uniforms, diapers, and other everyday apparel.
School supplies – Items priced at $78 or less per item, including notebooks, binders, pencils, pens, crayons, markers, glue, scissors, backpacks, lunch boxes, calculators, folders, and other school-related supplies.
Computers and software – A single purchase of up to $1,173, including desktop computers, laptop computers, computer software, printers, printer supplies, and storage media. To qualify, computers must be sold as a package that includes a CPU, monitor, keyboard, mouse, and speakers.
