SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Last month, Caymen Barron of Talladega County 4-H brought back to Alabama the title of Individual Skeet Shooting Champion at the National 4-H Shooting Sports Championship in Grand Island, Nebraska.
Shooting a perfect 100 for 100, he tied with a competitor from Texas. Barron then won the resulting shoot-off, securing the victory.
The Talladega County 4-H Shotgun Shooting Team placed sixth in Sporting Clays and eleventh in Skeet Shooting at the national event. The team consisted of Barron, Brooks Turner, Jack Fornwalt, Isaac Wilson, and Kayne Hodnett, all current or former students at Sylacauga High School.
The Alabama 4-H Program utilizes shooting sports to teach life skills such as concentration, self-confidence, and teamwork in a safe environment.
