MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Playoff brackets for Classes 1A through 7A for Alabama high school football have been released, and the B.B. Comer Tigers now know their first round opponent.
Head Coach Adam Fossett’s boys will host their first game of the 2022 Class 2A playoffs against the Lanett Panthers, the fourth-place team in Region 3.
Lanett’s region was stacked with quality teams Reeltown (region winners), Highland Home, and Luverne placing above the Panthers.
The game is tentatively set to take place at Legion Stadium next Friday night, Nov. 4, at 7:00 p.m.
As the winners of Region 4, B.B. Comer’s path through the 2A bracket, should they defeat Lanett, could include a second round road trip to Chickasaw, a quarterfinal showdown against Reeltown, and a semifinal rematch vs. region rivals Vincent.
Comer’s game at Vincent earlier in the year ended in a thrilling, come-from-behind 36-35 victory where the Tigers scored a touchdown and successfully made a two-point conversion in the final minute to beat the previously undefeated Yellow Jackets.
If the Tigers are to run the table, they’ll play for the 2A championship Dec. 2 at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn with a time yet to be determined.
