CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – A mobile home in the Ferry Road Court community was destroyed by a fire Sunday afternoon. The only person inside escaped with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Childersburg Police and Fire Departments responded to the scene just a short time after the 911 call was placed.
“PD got here and advised us that it was fully involved,” said Capt. Williams with the Childersburg Fire Department. “When we got here, we made entry through the front door.”
Williams said the firefighters fought the blaze from the east side of the structure just feet away from a nearby church.
“I was in the front room. I saw smoke from the bedroom there and I seen some fire from the bedroom there and I just noticed it, you know,” said homeowner Belinda Lawson. She said her son had just left about five minutes before the fire started.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
