SYLACAUGA, Ala. – One Sylacauga man is dead after a shooting that occurred in the Drew Court Housing Community on Tuesday morning, Oct. 3.
The Sylacauga Police Department received a distressing call at approximately 10:30 a.m. Tuesday which reported a man lying on the ground with a gunshot wound in the vicinity of Sherwood Dr. and Fluker St.
Responding swiftly, officers arrived at 193 Fluker St. to find the lifeless body of 29-year-old Miles Dontae McGhee, of Sylacauga, in the front yard.
In a collaborative effort, Sylacauga investigators joined forces with the Talladega County Drug and Violent Crimes unit and the Talladega County District Attorney’s Office to initiate a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
The circumstances surrounding McGhee’s death are under scrutiny, with law enforcement authorities diligently working to gather information and evidence.
As of now, no suspects are in custody, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Sylacauga Police Chief Kelley Johnson said, “Our hearts go out to the family and loved ones of Miles Dontae McGhee during this difficult time.
