LINCOLN, Ala. – The 2023 edition of the Talladega County Special Olympics will be held this Thursday, April 20, at Lincoln High School’s (LHS) Keith Howard Memorial Stadium.
Check-in will begin at 9:00 a.m. and last one hour until the festivities get underway at 10:00 a.m.
The Special Olympics Parade will commence which will be quickly followed by the introduction of participants, the national anthem played by the LHS marching band, welcoming remarks, and the lighting of the Olympic Torch.
The competition is set to start around 10:15 a.m. with the following events scheduled:
- 50 Meter Dash
- 100 Meter Walk
- 100 Meter Dash
- 200 Meter Dash
- 400 Meter Walk
- 400 Meter Dash
- Standing Long Jump
- Running Long Jump
- Wheelchair Race
- Wheelchair Obstacle Course
- Softball Throw
Lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. before the awards ceremony at 1:00 p.m.
