Meteorologist Evan Chickvara of ABC 33/40 will host a Severe Weather Preparedness event April 7, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce. Attendees can learn about severe weather safety and preparedness while receiving hands-on assistance with weather radios. The first 30 attendees in need will receive free weather radios. Residents are also encouraged to bring their existing radios to be programmed on-site.
