The Comer Museum and Arts Center is celebrating the 70th anniversary of an unique event in our town’s history. On Nov. 30, 1954, history was created when a meteorite fell from the sky, and at 11:54 a.m., it crashed through the roof of Mrs. Ann Hodges’ home and struck her on the side of her body as she napped on a couch. The Comer Museum will observe the 70th anniversary of the event on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. with an astronomer on hand to teach us about meteorites and space, along with an eye witness to the meteorite on its way to its final destination along what is now known as Old Birmingham Hwy in the Town of Oak Grove.
