SYLACAUGA, Ala. – Two Sylacauga High School alumni have been inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society at the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Heersink School of Medicine.
Levi Parker, Class of 2017, and Vyshi Rallapalle, Class of 2018 – both third-year medical students at the Heersink School of Medicine – were honored during a ceremony at Regions Field on Thursday, March 20.
They were among the top eight students in their class of nearly 200, earning induction based on academic excellence in their first two years of medical school.
Founded in 1902, Alpha Omega Alpha recognizes exceptional achievement, professionalism, and leadership in medicine. The society has 132 chapters in medical schools across the U.S. and has inducted more than 200,000 members since its founding. Each year, approximately 4,000 students, alumni, residents, and faculty are selected for membership.
The recognition will follow Parker and Rallapalle throughout their medical careers. Both are set to graduate in May 2026.
Parker plans to specialize in rheumatology through internal medicine, while Rallapalle intends to pursue dermatology.
Their achievement reflects not only their individual dedication but also the strong academic foundation provided by Sylacauga High School.
