CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – Earle A. Rainwater Memorial Library will host a “Meet The Authors and Children’s Story Time” event, featuring members of Central Alabama Writers’ Guild and Alliance (CAWGA) on Saturday, October 28, 2017, from 9:00 a.m. until noon. The event is open to the public and everyone is welcomed, adults and children alike. There is no admission charge and refreshments will be served. Several authors will be on hand to meet and greet visitors to the library, and they will be offering personalized, signed copies of their books for purchase. The authors represent a variety of genres, from children’s books to poetry, inspirational writings to books of historical fiction, etc.
From 10:00 am to 10:30 a.m., the children’s book authors of the Guild will be reading one of their books during a children’s story time, children attending story time will receive a gift bag. Members of the Guild will also be available to offer anyone interested more information about the Guild and becoming a member.
The Guild was established to aid, promote, encourage and support writers and those interested in becoming writers, they meet on the first Monday of each month at the Comer Museum and Art Center in Sylacauga at 6:30 pm. Membership is open to published and non-published authors of novels, poetry, short stories, story tellers, articles, fiction, non-fiction, etc. and to those who support and promote writing and literature, students are welcomed and encouraged to join. CAWGA holds a Young Writers’ Short Story Competition annually with students from Talladega County and surrounding counties participating.
