PHOENIX, Ariz. – Former Auburn point guard Jared Harper has earned a two-way contract with the Phoenix Suns.
The deal ensures Harper will have a roster spot with the Suns’ NBA G League affiliate, the Northern Arizona Suns. Additionally, he will have the ability to play in the NBA for 45 days during the upcoming season.
“Accomplishing my dream of being an NBA player is exciting,” Harper said. “For it to be happening right now is great.”
Harper is coming off a successful NBA Summer League campaign, averaging 10.5 points, 2.5 assists and 2.5 rebounds in 21.8 minutes per game over four games with the Suns.
“[Phoenix] said I’m a great player and I’m going to do a lot of great things on the court,” Harper said. “Some of the things I was able to do at Auburn, I was able to do during summer league. I’m going to continue to get better and prepare to get ready for training camp and eventually the season.”
The two-time all-conference selection set Auburn’s single-season assist record with 231 in 2018-2019. He finished his career with 511 assists, which ranks fifth in program history.
In his three seasons as a Tiger, Harper became one of only three guards in program history, joining Wes Flanigan and Doc Robinson, to score 1,000 points and accumulate 500 assists.
