CHILDERSBURG, Ala. – Childersburg Water Works, Sewer & Gas Board celebrates Natural Gas Public Awareness Month by inviting the public to its annual Public Awareness Day at its office tomorrow, Wednesday, October 5.
The fun-filled event will educate people about the use of natural gas and its dangers. Hot dogs, drinks, and gift bags are free to the public.
“We want to educate people to call 811 before beginning a digging project,” said Nanda Riddle of the Childersburg Water Works, Sewer & Gas Board. Riddle said the event is one of organization’s biggest initiatives. Calling 811 is just one bit of information that one can learn by attending the event today.
People who attend have the chance to enter in a drawing for three chances to receive $100 in cash. The drawing will take place at the end of October. Anyone who stops by its office during October can enter the drawing when coming to pay bills or to speak to a representative. When entering you will be asked a series of questions regarding understanding your gas pipelines and how to handle gas leaks. Riddle said employees chose this approach to further inform people about personal gas safety.
The event is between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at the Childersburg Water Works, Sewer & Gas building, 117 6th Ave. SW, Childersburg, AL 35044. For more information call (256) 378-6825.
