SYLACAUGA, Ala. – If you arrived to the scene of Friday morning’s accident on Broadway Ave. after it happened, you would think the crash involved just two small cars, but that is not the case.

The driver of a red Honda Fit told SylacaugaNews.com he rear ended current Jacksonville State University football player Tyre McKinney, pushing McKinney into the tailgate of a truck.

Drivers involved and witnesses to the accident told SylacaugaNews.com the driver of a charcoal-gray truck fled the scene immediately after McKinney’s silver Honda plowed into the tailgate of the truck. “When I got hit I flew forward and hit the back of the truck. The truck just sped off,” McKinney explained.

Although paramedics and emergency personnel were on the scene, no one involved was injured or transported to a medical facility.

Police on the scene said they were not able to identify the driver who fled the scene. The accident is still under investigation.
